A Growing Population and Strong Residential Demand
Wetaskiwin’s population has grown by 3.6% year over year, reaching more than 13,400 residents, the highest level in over a decade. This growth reflects rising demand for affordable housing, quality of life, and career opportunity in a well-connected Alberta city.

Commercial, Industrial and Residential Development Incentives
We offer a 3-year tax incentives on new industrial developments and new commercial developments with a minimum investment of $2 million in building permits are also eligible for the municipal tax rebate. on To support housing demand and workforce growth, City Council introduced the Residential Development Incentive Program, offering $10,000 per new residential build. With more than 15 approved applications, new homes are expected to be available by March 2026, supporting both population growth and employer recruitment. The program has been expanded, taking applications until July 2026 for new homes to be completed by December 2027.
